James McLintock, LMFT

James McLintock, MA Clinical Psychology, LMFT 114137: is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who specializes in working with lifeguards, paramedics, firefighters, 911 telecoms, and law enforcement personnel. Born at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton’s Naval Hospital and raised in North Coastal San Diego County, he is the son of World War II and Korean War veteran parents. With a strong swimming and athletic background—and a passion to be of service to those in need—he became a career Ocean Lifeguard Supervisor/Training Supervisor/EMT and POST Senior Master Advanced FTO Police Officer in Orange County, California. As a result of both public safety professions, James has hands-on street credibility and provides world-class counseling to sworn and non-sworn emergency responders alike. He works closely with the California Department of Forestry/Cal Fire Peer Support EAP and provided PTS support for the Butte County Sheriff's Department for the 2018 “Camp Fire” wild land fire. He has solid training and experience in working with trauma, anxiety, panic, depression, divorce recovery, anger, stress, childhood issues, emotional abuse, and pornography/substance recovery. James has a teamwork approach to goal setting and session direction: “I have learned there is nothing more painful than a broken heart or a crushed spirit. My style of therapy is very relational, and I help clients explore ways to slow down, stabilize, and relaunch in healthy new directions.” James is the Co-host of the podcast “H.A.L.T. and Call for Backup” with Mike Koch on Positive Connections Radio / Mental Health News
