Gerry McLean, ACSW #113280, is a Registered Associate Clinical Social Worker under the supervision of Christine Peng, LCSW #102479. She incorporates evidence-based modalities, including EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy,
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, the Gottman Method, and mindfulness-based interventions, to help clients develop practical tools for managing trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, relationship challenges, and substance use concerns. She is CISM trained in defusings and debriefings. Gerry utilizes a strengths-based, client-centered approach, creating a warm, safe, and nonjudgmental space where clients can explore their experiences openly.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and business administration from the University of California, Irvine, and a master’s degree in social work from California State University, San Bernardino.
Gerry’s clinical background includes extensive experience working with post-9/11 active-duty service members, military veterans, and their families at the Stephen A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Veterans Village San Diego. In this role, she provided individual, couples, family, and group counseling, addressing concerns such as deployment-related stress, family separation and reintegration, combat-related trauma, PTSD, grief and loss, and substance use. She also facilitated group therapy for children and adolescents, focusing on adjustment issues, anxiety management, behavior regulation, and life skills development.
Gerry supported active-duty service members, their spouses, and veterans in navigating the transition from military to civilian life, helping them build resilience and adapt successfully to change.
