Kim Sorrell, M.A., LMFT

Kim Sorrell, M.A., LMFT: Kim is a licensed marriage family therapist and has been a team member at the San Diego Vet Center since 2012 and works with military veterans, and active duty service members. Kim’s therapy approaches integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Kim is an EMDR Trained Clinician and has undergone training as a teacher of Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) through the USCD Center for Mindfulness. She works with individuals and couples in the areas of anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and bereavement, and substance addiction. At the Vet Center, Kim works with individuals, couples, LGBTQI community.  She has co-facilitated San Diego VA Warrior to Soul Mate retreats. Kim facilitates the following groups: anger management, Mantram Repetition, Connected Warrior Yoga, and Here and Now Vietnam group. She previously co-facilitated a 52-week Domestic Violence group (Family Recovery program) and Seeking Safety (PTSD and Substance Abuse). Prior to becoming a therapist, Kim was in the US Navy as an Explosive Ordnance Technician and retired after 28 years and retired after 16 years as a law enforcement officer.
