Chelsea Sterling, M.A., APCC.: Chelsea Sterling is a registered Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC), #6568, under the supervision of Dr. Jolee Brunton. Her clinical experiences include individual therapy, group therapy, crisis counseling and psychosocial assessments. She has worked in short term acute residential treatment (START) programs, outpatient mental health clinics and at an alcohol treatment facility. She is a certified Domestic Violence Counselor with experience as an advocate to survivors of domestic violence. At these settings, she has facilitated the following groups: cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), Mental Health and Sobriety, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), Seeking Safety and art therapy groups. She has assisted with critical incident debriefings, defusings and Wellness Day presentations for the SDPD and SDFD.
Chelsea values the importance of person-centered therapy based on a person’s strengths and values. Her experience also includes providing individual and group therapy to underserved populations in San Diego both with adults with serious mental illness, co-occurring disorders and through her previous position working with adults with intellectual disabilities in a social work role. She holds a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of San Diego.
Chelsea’s therapeutic approaches include integrating cognitive-behavioral, supportive, person-centered, solution focused brief therapy and dialectical behavior therapy.
